cursed

 

Cursed is the second part of my Photo Essay on Bodie, California. The historic gold-mining town is said to be cursed. It went from boom-town to ghost-town in just 50 years. Its afflictions ranged from mercury exposure, dangerous work conditions, severe winters, hot summers, violence, to the disastrous fire which destroyed 90 percent of the town. The malediction is also said to follow home visitors who "borrow" objects from Bodie. These reversed and highly saturated images reveal the supernatural powers still at play on these grounds.
